We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join our Accounts team at Snows Head Office based in Southampton.

This would be the perfect position for anyone who has worked within an Accounts Department. The successful candidate will be covering all aspects of daily processes and will be looking for the next step in their career. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger & bank functions. As this is a developing role experience in a similar role would be beneficial but not essential.

Your day

The Assistant Accountant will perform a range of clerical and accounting duties, supporting the Financial Controller with the preparation of various management information.

The role will involve:

• Assisting with month end process including the production of Management Accounts.
• Balance sheet reconciliation.
• Accruals and Prepayments.
• Fixed Asset Register reconciliation.
• Reconciliation of Vehicle Stocks and Vehicle funding.
• Reconciliation of Vehicle Bonuses.
• Assisting with the annual budgeting process.
• Variance analysis and reporting.
• Submission of Monthly Performance data to Manufacturers.
• Reviewing and housekeeping of the account’s ledgers.
• Supporting Accounts Clerks within your team.
• Signing off of supplier reconciliations and bought ledger reconciliation.
• Vehicle debtors and outstanding cash report reviews.
• Year End Audit and Tax preparation.

Promoting and maintaining positive people relations within the team and across the Group.

Have you got what it takes?

• 1 – 3 years’ experience in accounting, or equivalent.
• Experience with accounting software – ideally CDK.
• Qualified or studying towards AAT, or equivalent qualification.
• Highly numerate and conscientious with experience within a similar business.
• Attention to detail and maintains good, accurate quality of work.
• Good analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Excellent phone manner.
• PC, Microsoft, web literate.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm (1 hour for lunch)
