Style The new MINI Countryman compact SUV is the biggest MINI model to date – measuring 20cm longer and 3cm wider. To mark this model out as a genuine crossover vehicle, the new range now comes complete with large silver roof bars – while offering a contemporary finish. Technology The new MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid features a state-of-the-art 7.6kWh lithium ion battery – located beneath the rear seat to shrink. The unit can be recharged in a little over three hours via a standard wall plug – or just over two hours with a specialist wall box. As you might expect, CO2 emissions are at a minimum, standing at only 49g/km, while combined fuel economy of up to 134.5mpg is achievable. If green credentials are at the top of your priorities list, then this model is well worth considering – it certainly stands out from the rest of the range.
Drive You can expect this petrol-electric model to deliver robust all-wheel drive. The winning combination of the three-cylinder petrol engine and smooth, six-speed automatic transmission power the front wheels, while the cutting-edge 88bhp electric motor mounted on the back axle drives the rear wheels through two-speed transmission. The new MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid boasts an impressive peak outputof 221bhp and 284lb ft of torque – so you can hit the city streets or the open road in style. What’s more, it can reach 60mph from standstill in approximately 6.9 seconds. According to the manufacturer, it has a 25-mile maximum range and a 78mph top speed in battery-only mode.
