Meet Take That, the Tribute Band: Phoneyfest Favourites Returning for their Third Year

With a month to go until the much anticipated Phoneyfest takes place, main sponsors Snows decided to catch up with one of the acts who will be performing at this year’s event.

Take That, a tribute band whose performances have received praise from the superstars themselves, has incorporated different performers over its eight years, and is currently formed of Matt (Mark Owen), Dan (Gary Barlow), and newest member Gabriel (Howard Donald).

Whilst all three members are experienced singers, Matt and Gabriel come from an acting background originally. None of them knew each other before auditioning for and forming the band, but they are now firm friends who prepare for their performances by hugging when the intro music begins – and only when it begins, “not before!” – they claim at our meeting at The Concorde Club.

Regulars at the venue, which hosts a variety of popular events throughout the year, Take That will join a huge range of other tribute acts at Phoneyfest over the May Bank Holiday weekend. This will be their third year in attendance, and they can’t wait: not just to perform in front of the crowds, but also to see all the other artists in full swing. Their preferences vary when it comes to favourite songs to perform, from the back catalogue to new material, but they all agree that Phoneyfest is one of the highlights of the year. It’s not hard to see why; with a huge array of artists across three stages and four days, Phoneyfest has something for everyone.

With tribute acts for the late greats like David Bowie and Michael Jackson to current chart-toppers Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift, festival-goers of all ages will be able to enjoy the delights of the Bank Holiday weekend festival.
