SEAT Electric Charging

From slow charging at home to rapid charging on the road, there are many EV and PHEV charging solutions. This page will help you find the most practical solution for your needs.

Electric vehicle charging

We understand that driving an electric or hybrid vehicle may be daunting at first. With the different charging types, choosing between charging home or in public, while getting used to the new driving experience is a lot to balance. This is why we have made a handy guide, which provides all the essential information you need to learn more about electric and hybrid charging.

Why Choose SEAT Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles?

SEAT has Self-Charging Hybrid Range eTSI (mHEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Range (PHEV), so you can choose which works best for your driving preferences. MHEV vehicles assist the combustion engine during acceleration, making driving feel calm and smoother. Regenerative braking can charge the battery on the go, so it doesn’t need to be plugged in to charge. However, PHEV does need to be charged by using a home wall box or a public charging port and includes a dual electric motor and combustion engine.

Different Charging Solutions

Immediately below, you’ll find various charging-time examples (based on a typical crossover vehicle). It’s worth noting, however, that charging times vary depending on the make and model of a car, and its battery size. Therefore, the following is for guidance purposes only.

Three-pin Power Source

Slow chargers can be in the form of a three-pin (3 kW AC) power source, which you have at domestic properties, and plug it into your car's own adaptor. It is the slowest option, due to the limited power source; however, it is very convenient as you can charge it at home, work, or while you are visiting friends.

It is not recommended for owners to leave their cars in a three-pin charging state for a long period of time, as this can lead to quicker battery deterioration. We recommend that you check your model's manual for further advice.

You can get slightly quicker home-charging options in the form of a wallbox.

Wallbox

Home wall boxes are a convenient way of charging your plug-in hybrid vehicle without hassle. If you own your home and have the space, you can charge your vehicle on your driveway during the night, so it is ready for you to use in the morning. Most home wall boxes are 7kW or 13 kW, meaning they can charge your vehicle to your desired charge target in just a few hours.

The MySEAT App allows you to remotely monitor your plug-in hybrid SEAT vehicle so you can check your charge levels, find suitable charging stations and charge your vehicle on the go.

Public Charging

Accessing public charging stations is easy, thanks to the MySEAT App. Public charging stations are typically located in public spaces you use in your daily routine, like supermarkets and fast-food restaurants, and car parks. The MySEAT App and alternative electric charging providers can show you your nearest and available charging stations, so you can plan your route in advance.
