How to use Lexus dash cam

If you have a dash cam installed in your Lexus, Snows are happy to provide some general steps on how to use it:

1. Installation and Setup: ensure that the dash cam is installed correctly by a professional, preferable at a Lexus dealership or an authorised installer. The dash cam should be mounted on the windshield behind the rear view mirror for optimal view and minimal obstruction.

2. Power and Storage: The dash cam should be connected to the vehicle's power supply, usually through the car's fuse box or a dedicated power outlet. Insert a compatible microSD card into the dash cam. Make sure it has sufficient storage capacity, typically 32GB or higher.

3. Operation: Most dash cams start recording automatically when the car is turned on. Check if there's a power indicator to confirm it's recording. Some dash cams have a manual record button. Press it to start recording if needed. In case of an incident, some dash cams have a button to save the current recording, preventing it from being overwritten.

4. Settings and Features: Use the dash cam's menu to adjust settings such as video resolution, loop recording duration, and sensitivity for motion detection or G-sensor. Some models have GPS to log your location and WiFi to connect to a smartphone app for easier viewing and downloading of footage.

5. Reviewing Footage: You can use the built-in screen (if available) to review footage directly on the dash cam. To view via a computer, remove the microSD card and insert it into a card reader connected to your computer. Use video playback software to view the recordings. If your dash cam has WiFi capability, connect it to your smartphone using the dash cam's app to review and download footage.

6. Maintenance: Periodically check that the dash cam is functioning correctly and that the memory card has enough space. You should also regularly format the memory card (once a month or as recommended to ensure it performs well and to clear old footage.
