Volvo Electric Charging

Slow charging typically occurs at home or at work using a three-pin (3 kW AC) power source along with the car's own adaptor. As the name suggests, this is the slowest charging option. However, it is convenient since charging can take place overnight.

It's important to note that owners should not leave their cars plugged into a three-pin charger for extended periods, as this can lead to accelerated battery deterioration. For more specific guidance, it's advisable to consult the relevant car manufacturer.

For those looking for slightly faster home charging options, a dedicated charging unit, such as a 3.6 kW wall box, is available.

Fast Charger

Home and public charging stations

Fast-chargers are found through home wallboxes that you can install in your personal or commercial building. They are efficient and convenient, allowing you to charge your Volvo at a schedule that best suits you. They are typically 7kW or 22kW.

Volvo's wallbox provides a 22kW electric car charger that will power your electric Volvo in a few hours. Either charge it during the night or during the day while you work or rest. Benefits include lower costs, convenience, reduced CO2 emissions and reduced carbon footprint.

Please feel free to download the Zap Map app for iOS and Android at Zap Map App. This will provide you with real-time information on local public connectors and indeed, public charging stations all over the UK and Ireland.

Rapid Charger

Public spaces (supermarkets, motorway service stations, etc.).

Rapid chargers are available at public charging stations across the country. They offer the following power ratings: 43 kW AC, 50 kW DC and 100-plus kW DC. They offer a fast way to charge your electric Volvo car. They are ideal if you are travelling a long distance, or you cannot install a wallbox in your home.

These chargers should charge your battery to 80% in about 22 minutes, depending on your model.

Hotels and major thoroughfares

Tesla runs two distinct charging networks: Destination and Supercharger. The former can be found at hotels and the latter on major thoroughfares.

Destination connectors typically charge at a rate of 22 kW and so fall within the fast-charging category. One of the benefits of a destination charger is that it is provided as part of the hotel experience; i.e. no additional cost is incurred.

Superchargers live up to their title, offering a power rating of 120 kW or 150 kW.
