Snows Portsmouth fund raise for Hope House homeless shelter | Snows Blog

Our Snows Portsmouth Hope House project

Staff at Snows BMW and MINI Portsmouth have been showing their support for local homeless shelter, Hope House, by sleeping under the stars for a better future

At Snows in Portsmouth, we started a fundraising project to help support the residents and staff at Hope House by improving their surroundings. After months of dedication and fundraising activities, we are extremely pleased to say that we achieved our goals, and more! We would like to say a massive well done and thank you to all members of the team at Snows BMW and MINI, who took part in 'sleeping under the stars' in order to raise money for this worthy cause...

Hope House are a homeless shelter located on Milton rd Portsmouth. They provide beds for a wide scope of users including people with addictions, people with disabilities, women fleeing domestic violence and emergency night beds allocated on a daily basis depending on availability. They also provide support groups and all the things you would imagine (and more) that a person finding themselves homeless might need. The service is provided by The Salvation Army, who receive limited funds and support from the council which are mainly swallowed up by the cost of keeping the "basic" services running. As you can imagine our input and cash pot was very gratefully received.

We were able to fulfill a wish-list of items: including a chest freezer to enable food donations to be frozen and stored rather than turned away, lockable cupboards for the kitchen which will not only keep equipment secure but also prevent equipment from being stored in offices, a purpose made seating area with storage and stools in the newly decorated lounge and two android tablets and cases to provide residents access to the internet and services via apps whilst in support groups or one to ones with support workers.

Please see pictured on the right, BMW Cafe Bar Manager, Claire Hopkins, with Fiona from Hope House as she collected the two tablets for the shelter.

With the project nearly finished, Snows feel that it's time to celebrate and bring together everybody that has contributed along the way. What better way to do this than with a good old tea party! The tea party will be held at Hope House on Friday 19th October in the lovely new lounge, where all members of staff, fundraisers and contributors from both Snows and Hope House will gather to celebrate the brilliant work achieved by all parties.
