Toyota ready to shine at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Toyota is set to highlight its comprehensive approach to reducing CO2 emissions and achieving carbon neutrality at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11-14. The event will feature an impressive array of Toyota's race, rally, off-road, and high-performance road cars, showcasing how its involvement in motorsport is driving the development of superior road vehicles.

A Celebration of Motorsport Excellence

Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team (TGR-WRT), the reigning World Champions, will present both the GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid and Rally2 WRC cars at the festival, held on the picturesque grounds of Goodwood House in Sussex. Notably, the GR Yaris Rally2, making its debut in the second tier of the WRC this year, will be on display, highlighting Toyota's commitment to customer teams.

From Track to Road: The New GR Yaris

The festival will also witness the introduction of the new GR Yaris, an evolution of the acclaimed high-performance hatchback. This new model offers enhanced power, sharper handling, and the option of a new eight-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic transmission. This development underscores how Toyota’s top-level motorsport engagement translates into improved road cars.

Special Appearances by World Champion Drivers

TGR World Champion drivers Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä will be present for the official handover of their self-named GR Yaris special edition models. These exclusive versions, tailored with the drivers' personal input for handling and custom features, reflect the direct influence of motorsport expertise on road car development.

Exciting Demonstrations and Innovative Technologies

Elfyn Evans, a key figure in TGR-WRT, will showcase the GR YARIS Rally1 Hybrid’s capabilities on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, Kalle Rovanperä will demonstrate his drifting prowess on Goodwood’s hill climb in a specially engineered GR Supra.

Toyota is also exploring innovative technologies for internal combustion engines using alternative, carbon-neutral fuels. At Goodwood, attendees will see the first European-built GR Yaris running on hydrogen fuel, preserving the traditional excitement of motorsport driving with a sustainable twist.

Beyond Performance: Sustainable Support Vehicles

Toyota’s multi-technology theme includes sustainable support vehicles. The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Hilux Prototype, developed by a UK-based consortium, explores fuel cell technology for light commercial vehicles. Meanwhile, the Corolla Commercial, a British-made hybrid van, will demonstrate the efficiency benefits of hybrid power in the commercial sector.

The Thrill of Rally-Raid and Touring Car Championships

TGR’s powerful GR DKR Hilux Evo T1U will tackle all three of the festival’s routes: the hill climb, rally stage, and off-road course. Key figures from the 2024 FIA World Rally-Raid Championship, including Lucas Moraes with co-driver Armand Monleon and Seth Quintero with partner Dennis Zenz, will be in attendance.

Moreover, TGR-UK’s British Touring Car Championship Corolla, which has already secured multiple podium finishes and a race win this season, will also be in action on the hill climb, adding to the excitement of the event.

Toyota's presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed exemplifies its dedication to innovation, sustainability, and the exhilarating spirit of motorsport.
