Is The Electric Car Grant Returning?

Government announcing there could be an incentive of up to £3,750 on electric cars from the 16th of July 2025.

The Government has just announced a return of the Electric Car Grant, which car manufacturers can start applying for from 16th July 2025. This grant is reported to provide a fantastic discount of up to £3,750 when UK households switch to electric cars when upgrading their current vehicle. It hopes to make electric cars more affordable and accessible to UK drivers and adhere to the commitments of phasing out new sales of petrol and diesel cars by 2030.

While we are still awaiting confirmation of what makes and models will attract the full grant, drivers can use this opportunity to seek a better deal on electric cars priced under £37,000 until the 2028 to 2029 financial year. With this incentive to make the switch to electric, the discounted price will help drivers who are consideringdue to costs to feel more comfortable to switch to electric cars.

The Electric Car Grant will go alongside the Government’s plan to tackle potholes and freeze fuel duty at 5 pence till spring 2026. They are also committed to adding more public charge points nationwide, making longer journeys even easier.
