Snows, a Hampshire-based car dealer group, has teamed up with one of its manufacturer partners to give a welcome financial boost to four good causes in the south of England. Snows Toyota, based in Southampton, has allocated funds to the local charities via the Toyota Community Fund, a scheme under which grants are allocated to help local charitable organisations, schools and community projects. Each of the projects selected to receive cash by Snows has benefited to the tune of £1,800, with the company itself having added money to the pot to increase the level of funding available.
Snows represents the Japanese manufacturer Toyota at 11 dealerships across southern and south-west England, in locations such as Chichester, Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth and Exeter. Four of those business have liaised with Toyota to provide financial assistance to organisations in their local areas via the latest round of grant allocations.
The team at Snows Toyota Hedge End provided £1,800 to a special sand lizard project at nearby Marwell Wildlife. The species, one of Britain’s rarest reptiles, has suffered from significant habitat loss in recent years and the funds helped pay for the creation of a pond to help the creatures thrive.
Dealership colleagues also helped build the pond which will attract insects on which the sand lizards can feed.
Snows Toyota Southampton opted to give £1,800 to the Minstead Trust, an organisation which nurtures the unique potential of people with learning disabilities. The money will be spent at Furzey Gardens in the New Forest, run by the Trust, where a special ‘Fairytales at Furzey’ project is being held over the summer.
An interactive story trail, the project celebrates fairytales and the power they have to spark people’s imaginations, teach us life lessons and unlock our creativity.
Meanwhile, Snows Toyota Bournemouth gave £1,800 to Macmillan Caring Locally and its Hospice at Home initiative. Hospice at Home is a service launched just two years ago and caters for patients in the last few weeks of life, who prefer to be at home rather than in a hospice.
Snows Toyota Salisbury donated £1,800 to Salisbury Hospice and the Salisbury Hospice Charity – again for its Hospice at Home service.
Since the fund’s inception in 2011, Toyota along with its dealer partners in the UK has supported more than 650 projects and donated over £1,000,000 to community-based good causes. As well as the projects mentioned above, this investment has helped set up environmental gardens in local schools, encouraged technical and engineering education for young people and supported road safety awareness programmes.
Olivia Snow, Brand Marketing Manager at Snows, said: ‘‘The Toyota Community Fund is a brilliant initiative and we’re only too delighted to play our part in distributing grants to local good causes. Although the sums of money allocated may seem relatively modest, we know they are incredibly useful to our chosen charities and we always receive lovely emails and letters saying how much the support is appreciated. Further allocations of funding are shortly to be announced so watch this space!’’
