Congratulations to the Volvo EX60, the winner of the Reader award at the 2026 What Car? Awards.
Even though the Volvo EX60 was officially unveiled in Sweden on 21st January, it has already won a major accolade the day after. This early recognition of the electric mid-size SUV shows excitement for Volvo's new electric cars. Customers are eager for these cars to arrive in the UK market.
It has an impressive range of up to 500 miles and has ultra-fast charging. This charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in just 19 minutes on DC chargers.
Volvo introduces its new multi-adaptive safety belt in the Volvo EX60. It is made to improve safety for drivers and passengers. It adapts to traffic changes and how the person uses it, by using real-time data from the car’s advanced sensors. This is an interesting technological advancement that we are excited to hear more about.
The technology has evolved inside the EX60. The central HuginCore system provided over-the-air updates across the vehicle. The dashboard has been refined for fewer distractions. The 11.40inch driver display sits close to the windscreen to reduce your eye and head movement. This dashboard will show your maps, driving speed, speeding limits and more. Customise your views on the driver display to best match your driving needs. Maps show your navigation essentials. Surround reveals nearby vehicles and gives you better awareness of the traffic around you. Whereas Calm only shows the essentials for a fully-focused experience.
To the side is the 15.04-inch centre display, which easily provides access to your key controls. The screen is divided into clear sections, so your interactions are consistent and easy to reach. Your phone shortcut is pinned to the lower left for quick access, where climate controls are at the bottom of the menu bar. As you use your Volvo EX60 more, muscle memory will kick in, so you don't have to search for your apps consistently.
For ease, Google Gemini is here to help. Gemini understands everyday speech, so you don't need to change your natural speaking pattern. Stay hand-free and focused on the road while accessing your Google apps and services.
The interior has been designed for comfort and a quiet atmosphere, making long drives feel easy. Tightly sealed doors and body panels keep the wind and road sound to a minimum, while the flat underfloor and large suspension bushing absorb vibrations before it reaches the cabin. With ambient lighting, comfortable seating and an electrochromic roof, it's hard to feel stressed while driving the EX60.
Commenting on the award, What Car? judges said: “The 2026 vote was the closest for years, highlighting the strength of the competition. However, ultimately it was the Volvo EX60 that pulled ahead, and it’s easy to see why when you look at its style and specs.”
They added: “Among premium brands, Volvo is undoubtedly setting the standard for interior quality at the moment. Mixing first-rate assembly standards with materials that look and feel expensive, its cars are unmatched in this area, whether you’re looking for a small SUV, a huge seven-seater, or something in between. Plus, its seats are among the most comfortable and supportive at any price.”
Mark Austin, at Snows Volvo Southampton on Second Avenue, said: “It’s fantastic to see the Volvo EX60 receive such a positive response even before it arrives in the UK. We’re delighted that our excitement for the launch is echoed by UK drivers and readers of What Car? Magazine.
“Although customers will have to wait a little longer to see it at Snows Volvo Southampton and on Southampton roads, this award gives a great indication of the innovation, design, and technology they can expect when the EX60 becomes available later this year.
“We’re equally pleased to see so many of our other models recognised for their interiors, design, and style – reflecting the strength of our award-winning lineup here in Southampton.”
In addition to the win for the EX60, Volvo Car UK also picked up five other accolades from the What Car? judges:
