Environment Electric Vehicles (EVs) deliver zero tailpipe emissions, meaning no CO₂ or NOx pollutants, making them one of the most eco-friendly car options available today.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) combine electric power with a petrol engine, resulting in ultra-low CO₂ emissions and improved fuel efficiency, perfect for drivers seeking flexibility without compromising sustainability.

Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are significantly greener than traditional combustion cars, reducing carbon footprint and air pollution while offering excellent mileage and lower running costs.

Running Costs Electric vehicles (EVs) in 2025 offer some of the lowest running costs compared to petrol or diesel cars. Charging an EV at home remains the most affordable option, with rates averaging £0.25–£0.35 per kWh, while public rapid charging is slightly higher but still cheaper per mile than traditional fuel.

Thanks to fewer moving parts and regenerative braking, EV maintenance costs are up to 40% lower, making electric cars more reliable and cost-effective.

EV drivers also benefit from zero road tax and attractive company car incentives, while overall savings typically range from £800 to £1,200 per year. For anyone searching for cheap EV running costs, electric car maintenance savings, and eco-friendly driving solutions, switching to an EV is a smart financial and sustainable choice.

Performance A car with a hybrid or electric drivetrain can perform just as well as its conventional equivalent. This is partly due to an electric motor that delivers instant torque, thus enabling rapid acceleration.

Connectivity EVs and PHEVs can be charged at home, at work, and at one of several thousand UK-wide public chargepoints. If you choose an HEV, it charges itself via regenerative braking.

Can I get a home chargepoint on the Motability Scheme?

Close

If you choose to lease a fully electric vehicle through the Motability Scheme, they will help with charging. This includes either a home charge point with standard installation or access to the bp pulse public charging network as part of your lease.

Do I need to give my home chargepoint back at the end of my lease?

Close

No. It’s yours to keep!

If I have a problem with my home chargepoint, what can I do?

Close

If you experience any chargepoint issues, don’t hesitate to contact us at your closest Snows dealership.

What’s the difference between a tethered and untethered chargepoint?

Close

A tethered charge point comes with a fixed charging cable attached, while an untethered charge point requires you to use your own cable for connection.

Can I have a home chargepoint fitted AND get access to the bp pulse network?

Close

No, it’s one or the other. If it’s not possible for you to have a home ChargePoint installed, we’ll provide you with free access to the bp pulse network of public charge points.

How do I charge my electric vehicle (EV)?

Close

Most people prefer to charge their electric vehicle at home so look to have a charging unit installed in their garage or driveway where possible. The car can then charge overnight so it is recharged and ready to drive away in the morning. Motability are on hand to make this transition as easy as possible and offer a free home charging unit with your new EV vehicle. You can apply for a free charging unit alongside your application for your new EV.

Alternatively if you're away from home, as EV's have grown in popularity, so has the infrastructure. There are lots of on-the-go charging points you can use and these can commonly be found in supermarkets, fuel and service stations.

I don't have off-road parking but I still want an EV, can I do this?

Close

Absolutely! As mentioned, if you don't have a convenient place to put a home charging unit, Motability offer a free subscription to BP Pulse On The Go so you can charge out and about. The subscription lasts for the lifetime of the vehicle with no monthly payments - you just pay a discounted rate for the energy you use (on a BP Pulse charger only)

How long does it take to charge an electric car?

Close

This very much depends on the electric vehicle you purchase but also what type of charge it can support. Many EV's support rapid charging which can typically fill an EV battery within the hour - these charging points cannot be installed at home but are available to use on-the-go. The vehicle you select will be supplied with a charging cable that supports regular charging and can take between 5 and 15 hours to charge. Speak to your sales advisor who will be happy to provide all the information necessary.

Does my vehicle come with cables?

Close

All electric cars available on the Scheme come with the cable to charge it. The type of plug your specific car has might affect which public chargepoints you can use, but many new public chargepoints have multiple plug types.
