Are EVs more expensive to buy than cars with an engine?

Close

EVs have varying prices; at Snows, we have some models available for under £20,000. To find out more, click on each brand and explore their EV, as well as any grants that could be available for EVs.

How much do EVs typically cost to run?

Close

EV charging rates differ depending on where you charge and what speed you charge at - home charging can cost as low as 5-10p/kWh overnight, whilst public fast charging can cost around upwards of 60-70p/kWh.

What range do EVs normally have?

Close

EV ranges are normally designed around what the vehicle is intended for - city EVs have a lower range as there are more charging options, whilst SUVs have some of the longest ranges available to allow for charge-free journeys.

How easy is it to charge an EV?

Close

Very easy! Putting an EV on charge takes seconds and can be done with both home chargers and public chargers - in terms of public chargers, there are over 75,000 public points in the UK (as of March 2025). Charging speeds vary per vehicle and charger, but the fastest charging speeds can get a vehicle from 10% to 80% in around 20-30 minutes.

How well does an EV last?

Close

EV architectures are engineered to stay as optimal as possible for as long as possible - this means that in some EVs, the battery can retain around 90% of it's original capacity after 10 years of driving.

What is the environmental benefit of an EV?

Close

Fully electric vehicles produce zero emissions on the road - in terms of charging, the UK's energy network is getting greener all the time, so this further helps to benefit the environment.

What extra features do EVs have?

Close

There is a wide range of features that EVs have that make them much more useful, safe and fun - explore the different brands available at Snows to see what each EV offers.
