Snows Volvo wants to ensure that our customers get to drive around in the very best, and the very safest, new vehicles. Part of the core Volvo 2020 mission is that ‘By 2020, no person will be killed, or seriously injured, by a new Volvo’.
The new Volvo XC90 is a clear step towards this goal, as demonstrated by the accolade of the What Car? Car of the Year 2016 Safety Award. What Car claims that the XC90 is ‘by far the best’ when it comes to safety. It’s no surprise, considering the extensive range of features the model has in place to create both comfort and safety for all. With five stars and top ratings in the Euro NCAP tests, the new Volvo XC90 is the epitome of high manufacturer safety standards.
In fact, it was the first vehicle from any marque to be awarded full points in Euro NCAP Autonomous Emergency Braking Car to Car rear-end tests.
IntelliSafe is Volvo’s Intelligent Safety technology, specifically designed to keep everyone free from harm, whether within the car or without. A wealth of innovative technologies are in place to ensure that you remain alert. For example, Blind Spot Information uses radar sensors to alert you to the cars around you, and Lane Keeping Aid steers you back on track if you swerve off course, sending warning vibrations to keep you alert. To help with parking, use the Park Assist Pilot, which steers your car into a space. There’s also a 360° camera to ensure that obstacles are never a problem and that you can manoeuvre with ease.
The Volvo XC90 also comes with a range of IntelliSafe functions specifically designed for the city. There is pedestrian and cyclist detection, which will recognise when there are people walking or cycling in the vicinity of your vehicle and send a warning to ensure that you’re aware. And if needed, your intelligent XC90 can even brake for you to prevent a collision.
But the Euro NCAP five star safety rating isn’t the only accolade that the Volvo XC90 has received, as it also comes with awards such as Auto Express New Car of the Year 2015, Stuff Gadget Award Winner 2015, The Sunday Times Top 100 Cars 2016 winner, and more. With so many experts on board, the new Volvo XC90 is sure to impress.
