Cupra has been created to develop all-new, all exciting models in conjunction with the SEAT brand, but with a whole new dedication to producing serious performance cars.
This new brand comes with exciting new ambitions to introduce a range of models based on both existing and future models within the SEAT family, from the Cupra Ateca to new Ibiza. These latest models will be designed and engineered in SEAT's Martorell factory outside Barcelona. Cupra's new designs will also be developed by the firm’s SEAT Sport division, and while performance will be a key initiative to the Cupra ethos, the company say that styling and personalisation is also a massive influence.
The Cupra badge has traditionally been used for SEAT's faster models, but now as a separate brand, it has launched a 296bhp Ateca SUV. This latest model signals the start of a new era for the Cupra name and the perfect character to launch this exciting new chapter for high performance motor sports.
The new Cupra Ateca is a a high-performance mid-sized SUV with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine under the bonnet. Producing 296bhp and equipped with a newly developed seven-speed direct-shift gearbox (DSG) for that awesome sporty feel that we all desire with fast, smooth and precise changes.
For all you speed lovers, the Cupra Ateca can reach a top speed of 245km/h (152mph) and go from 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) in only 5.4 seconds.
Not only has it got speed, but the Ateca also offers a striking exterior look, with a honeycomb effect on the inside of the upper grille with the new Cupra logo in the centre. Adding that luxurious look, glossy black details are also a stunning feature along the exterior of this car.
All future SEAT models have also been earmarked to offer more focussed Cupra aspects, that will include a range of petrol, plug-in hybrid and even battery-electric powertrains. In total, Cupra are set to launch a fantastic seven new models in the next three years.
