The clubs were out at the BMW Golf Cup International with some worthy winners and super swings!

Snows BMW Portsmouth were very excited to see our two teams take part in the entertaining yet competitive golfing tournament which took place on Wednesday 26th July 2017 at Woburn Golf Club where we saw not one, but three winners!

The 26th of July was a day full of keen golfers putting in the effort for the win. Snows BMW Portsmouth entered two golfing teams from Lee On The Solent Golf Club and Hayling Golf Club to put their swings to the test in the BMW Golf Club International tournament. This is a renowned event that BMW has been inviting top performers to since 1995. It is now recognised as the largest international tournament series for amateur golfers, with a total of 100,000 competitors from roughly 50 countries around the world!

Snows Portsmouth have partnerships in place with both of the Golf Clubs entered, which includes the hosting of a competition at each Club, where members could compete for a chance to represent Snows in the BMW Golf Cup International. The team of golfers from Lee On The Solent Golf Club consisted of Karen Hirst (10), Kathy Davies (20), Don Eary (18) and Chris Proudlock (18). Players from Hayling Golf Club were Sam Fraser (6), Alan Sheppard (16), Jean Leggett (26) and Anne Aylward (19). The teams were made up of the winners from each Club who all represented the range of players within the teams, as the numbers in brackets are to show their golf handicaps.

Both teams took part in one of the seven BMW Golf Cup International UK Regional Finals, which was held at the prestigious Woburn Golf Club, a quiet and secluded venue located just 15 minutes away from Central Milton Keynes. Unfortunately the weather was not on par, but that did not effect the enthusiasm of the players or put our teams off their game.

Karen Hirst (pictured right) from Lee On The Solent Golf Club won the Ladies devision with 35 stableford points, and will now progress on to the National Final, which will be held at the famous St Andrews Golf Club in Scotland in September. She can be seen collecting her prize from World No.14 ranked golfer and BMW Ambassador, Tommy Fleetwood, fresh from his performance at The Open last week at Royal Birkdale. Our other worthy winners were Alan Sheppard from Hayling Golf Club who won 4th place in the Mens 12-28 handicap category, with 36 points, and will also progress on to the National Final at St Andrews. And last but definitely not least, Sam Fraser from Hayling Golf Club won the Longest Drive competition and left with a Magnum of fine red wine!

Overall, we felt the whole day was a huge success and there was some exceptional performances across the board. Congratulations to all the players and everyone who took part in this thoroughly enjoyable day of golf.
