Snows held their first-ever Managers Conference at The Concorde Club, Eastleigh, on Friday 10th March. Hosted by Group Chairman, Stephen Snow and the Board of Directors, 95 managers attended a day of review, celebration and looking ahead.
To kick off the meeting there was lots of laughter with the appearance of Mike Osman as Donald Trump who lightened the mood with his unique take on the economy and automotive industry! It was then straight onto business with Stephen Snow outlining his key messages of the day - 'Going for Gold in 2017' and 'It's Great being part of a Group'. A series of business presentations were given by the Directors and Franchise Managers that focused on the successes and challenges of 2016. With all that now in the past, they proceeded to reveal how they plan to 'Go for Gold' in 2017.
Then it was time for awards. Linda Gillard (Snows SEAT Portsmouth), Mark Toms (Snows SEAT & Volvo Southampton), Doug Holmes (Compliance), Steve Churchill (Snows BMW Portsmouth), Jon Oakley (Lexus Hedge End) and Dan Bush (Snows Accident Repair Centre) all received Gold Awards for their fantastic contributions in 2016. Chris Tarrant then hosted the ‘Who wants to be Snows Manager of the Year?’ with the Gold award winners. They were asked questions in the style of ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire?’. Following a keenly fought contest, Group Compliance Manager Doug Holmes eventually triumphed by winning the tie-break question. Congratulations to Doug, who won a magnum of champagne and £500 of holiday vouchers. When asked by Chris where he was going he, sensibly, replied ‘I’ll check with the wife’!
Once it got to the evening the entertainment kicked off with a speech from Stephen Snow who thanked family, friends and colleagues for their hard work and dedication to the company. Snows are currently celebrating their 55th anniversary and without, special guest and founder, Geoff Snow, who was there on the evening, this wouldn’t have been possible.
Throughout the Gala dinner, there was memorable entertainment provided by West End 2U – who performed a selection of songs from Les Miserables – and comedian Kev Orkain from Britain’s Got Talent. Afterwards, when the drinks were flowing, Tony Hadley graced the stage and the women flocked to the dance floor. The finale consisted of Gold, where he was swamped on stage by further women who couldn’t believe their luck getting this close to Tony! He even handed over the mic to Evelyn Snow who rounded the evening off with a wonderful rendition of the Gold chorus. To watch and re-live this memorable performance, click the link https://youtu.be/EjItY-bXWdY.
Overall the day was a great success for Snows (apart from the few sore heads the next morning) and it was fantastic getting the whole team together.
Snows has 33 dealerships across the South of England, stretching from Plymouth to Guildford, and including the Isle of Wight. The Group prides itself on its reputation and dedication to delivering excellent customer service, and is rewarded by the fact that over half of its business comes from returning customers. With Snows, driving becomes an experience, rather than a chore.
