Driven by safety within the community - the Blue Lamp Trust are a Hampshire based organisation who pride themselves on three principals. These include operating driver education and training to reduce injuries on the road, bidding for community funding to reduce local crime in the area, and also the very important Bobby Scheme, which provides tangible support to the elderly community and those who have been victims of domestic crimes such as burglary or violence.
Here at Snows we have long supported The Blue Lamp Trust and will now strengthen this
partnership by providing a brand new Toyota
PROACE van to be used for The Bobby
Scheme; a service that provides free home security, long-life smoke alarms, and
of course, peace of mind for the vulnerable and elderly within Hampshire.
The official handover was conducted at the Hampshire Police & Fire Headquarters in Eastleigh, where it was received by the Chief Constable. The van was supplied free of charge and will be available to the Trust for 12 months. The Toyota PROACE will play its part by helping to transport The Bobby Scheme’s skilled operators and trained fitters, along with their equipment. Typically a versatile, reliable and practical van, we can guarantee that this is the perfect vehicle for the job.
Alastair Rutt, Divisional Corporate Manager at Snows (pictured left) was there for the handover and says “We’re very pleased to be able to support such a great local charity. The Blue Lamp Trust helps thousands of vulnerable people across Hampshire with their excellent Bobby scheme. They also offer a wealth of training around safer, more economical and environmentally friendly driving, so they have a lot of commonality with the Snows ethos. We are delighted to be supporting them with one of the superb, all new PROACE vans from Toyota. This van has proved an instant hit with its versatility, exceptional fuel economy and 5 year warranty, all feeding into it being a great automotive package.”
The Bobby Scheme has proven to be an extremely helpful and valuable project in the local community. Over the last 12 months the trained fitters have improved the safety of over 2290 Hampshire homes.
Since the handover on the 15th June, the Toyota PROACE Van has helped 129 people in the local area, who are in need of assistance from the Blue Lamp Trust. The driver who has taken on these jobs is Bob Edney, who has been working as a Fitter for the Bobby Scheme since 2014.
As a local family owned business, Snows work with a number of Hampshire based charities and support a series of community initiatives. Snows Toyota are now proudly keeping The Bobby Scheme on the roads, to ensure the continuation of the important support that the project delivers to the local community.
