The Clean Air Network has launched in Southampton, and Snows Toyota are getting involved!

Snows joined over 150 delegates to welcome the launch of Southampton's new environmental network to show that we CAN make a difference...

Last week, more than 150 delegates attended the launch of Southampton's new Clean Air Network at an event held at Southampton Solent University.

Southampton city council and local charity The Environment Centre have launched a ‘Clean Air Network’ – aimed at providing support for organisations and individuals seeking to make changes to improve air pollution.

From Politicians to businesses bosses, charity chiefs and scientists, the scheme gathered people from a wide-range of groups and industries across the city to share ideas on how to tackle Southampton's high pollution levels.

Snows Toyota are proud to be involved in this strong movement for environmental awareness and we took the opportunity to share our message about the fantastic benefits of Hybrid vehicles at the launch.

Our Snows Toyota dealership in Southampton plays a large part in this 'clean-up' project, as we supply many Toyota cars to Southampton businesses and Taxi drivers, keeping the city moving as efficiently as possible.

Talking after the launch, Southampton City Council's cabinet member for Sustainable Living, councillor Chris Hammond, said: "We had such an amazing turnout.

"I'm proud to say we've had people from all over the world to look at what Southampton as a city is doing about air pollution.

"There is a lot of enthusiasm about this scheme and we are going to try and harness this and hopefully turn it into something which will have a real impact."

The event included a talk from Public Health director for Southampton and Portsmouth, Jason Horsley, who emphasised the impact pollution has on health.

The new scheme also comes ahead of the introduction of a Clean Air Zone in Southampton, due to be brought in by 2020.
