​Snows Van Centre are supporting the St Luke's Hospice 'Open Garden Event' in Devon & Cornwall.​

Snows Van Centre in Langage Business Park, Plympton is delighted to be supporting St Luke's Hospice this year by contributing a VW van for the Open Gardens Event.

This years Open Gardens event involved exciting explorations around 24 glorious gardens across the beautiful Devon and Cornwall countryside. The event visits areas not normally open to the public, including Mothecombe House, Stroll Gardens, Fardel Manor, Sandhill House, the Flete Estate Gardens and many more spectacular locations that have to be admired.

St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth prides itself on providing quality care for people with serious illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, multiple sclerosis and chronic lung disease. The importance of the hospice and the care they provide is both needed and highly praised. St Luke's is an active charity that undertakes a wide range of events in order to gain donations for it's many fantastic causes. Hosting fun fundraising activities such as Marathon's, Skydiving, Raffles, Coffee Mornings, Charity Shops, Memory Jar and many more innovative ideas for the public to join in and contribute to.

The Hospice has proved itself to be very successful in the Plymouth community for many years by raising over £4 million each and every year. In addition to this they have been awarded an 'outstanding' rating by the Care Quality Commission in 2016!

In April 2017, Nina Wearne from the Hospice came to collect the Volkswagen vehicle from Snows Van Centre in Plymouth to take part in the Open Gardens event 2017, as pictured on the right. The Snows VW team were very honored to see the van proudly wearing the St Luke's Hospice logo promoting this beneficial organisation.

Since then, the Open Gardens campaign has now been closed after raising over £70,000 - the largest total that the hospice has ever made. This amount of money will be used to look after patients and their families at the end of their life, with specialist care at St Luke's Hospice to make sure that the last minutes of a patients life are full of special, cherished moments.

The total number of visitors who came along to explore the gardens exceeded an incredible 10,000! St Luke's are extremely grateful to everyone who participated and for all of their support.

Nicola Keen, Business Fundraising Manager for St Luke's Hospice, said "We have raised over £70,000 this year which is just fantastic and Snows are such an instrumental part of this! "With the Volkswagen van, St Luke's Hospice were able to travel an astonishing 750 sq miles over the course of the campaign. What's more, the hospice team also had peace of mind that they could use the vehicle for storage during their travels.

The plans for next year are already underway, with 25 gardens currently booked in for the 2018 season!
